Watching Fireworks from a Dorm Room

Fires burning and bursting in the distant night
The glory of man and his passionate light
Cities in celebration, skyscrapers saluting
Their freedom and hope and unconquered resolution
An immaculate sky on the 4th of July
While I revel in this life of mine
Then turn slowly and work on for a while
